Retired last year and have acquired an 8N, am enjoying the use I am getting from it. However, thinking I might like to get a Ford with a live PTO. Do all 1953 & 1954 NAA"s have a live PTO as standard? Based on anyone"s experience, are there other series Ford tractors with live PTO that I should consider. I use the tractor at my daughters hobby farm, bush-hogging, snow removal, blading, very limited plowing, discing, etc. Appreciate any thoughts you might have.
Bob

53 and 54 model jubilee tractors did not feature live PTO.The lifts were on live hydraulics but not the PTO shaft.Starting in the 1955 model year 2 stage clutches allowing live PTO were available in 660 and 860 tractors.I believe the 960 narrow fronts had it also.In 1958 the 661 and 861 tractors had the live PTO feature. This continued through the 1962 model year.In 1963 the 2000 and 4000 tractors carried live PTO.The tractors that have live PTO will all have 5 speed transmissions.A word of caution however! The 651 and the 851 tractors had a 5 speed transmisson but, they had a single stage clutch ,thus no live PTO.For more information on this go to TractorLinks.com and then proceed to the Vintage Ford Tractor page. LATER.

The NAA did have a live PTO systen available. A hyd clutch pack replaced the driveshaft between the tranny and rear end and was powered from a small pump driven from the back of the main hyd pump. Probably a lot of them are no longer in working order.

MY NAA has live pto option. Any place I can find who to operate it without grinding the 4 speed?

My Jubilee has this option, and I've been told by the local NH dealer that if anything breaks, I'm SOL, as no parts are available for it.
