Iam going to a farm auction and bid on a 801 Ford D.powermaster.The owner says the pto jumps out of gear.Does anybody got a idea what it could be and what it would take to fix it.Thanks

Most times it is the PTO shaft is twisted. You would need to replace the PTO shaft. Not to hard to do and I think you can get one for a little over $100.
It could also be the detent ball and spring or the linkage but if I had to guess I would stay with a bad PTO shaft.

Most common problem is a bent PTO shaft, when you move the lever see if it travels its full length to engage and disengage, and see if it takes some force to move. When all is good there should be only a small amount of pressure required to slide the shifter back and forth.
