Knowing a little more about LPG/Propane in the cold, it was obvious last year that the o'le 850 needs to live in the heated garage when it's cold ( stay's 60 deg F in there ), but how do you overcome the cold weather related starting problems of LPG/Propane ? It seems that the regulator/vaporizer (reg./vap.) needs the engine coolant to be hot on this Impco reg./vap. to start and or stay running when around 25 deg F and under. The fan blows cooler air back towards the fuel system, until warmed up and the thermostat opens, the LPG seems to liquify before the the engine warms up enough, and it will shut down, not start easily & then shuts down again. I've kept the 30 lb. cylinder inside, but it is definitely the reg./vap. that is too cold. I remember running many LPG forklifts in the bitter cold at the lumber yard, left outside and cold started no problem, no block heater, or any other aid to keep the motor warm. I was just wondering if anyone knew of another way to solve this problem. I can run this one in the bitter cold only if it has been inside, but have to keep it running, only shut it off for short periods, if it cools down too much, it'll be there until it warms up again. It is an unsightly set up on this series Ford, but that engine oil sure stays clean ! Has anyone overcome this problem ? ( yeah I know, get a gasoline powered one LOL ! )

I figure one of those LPG heaters rigged off your 15 lb. BBQ tanks would work in a pinch, a salamander etc. to get things warmed up enough, but at 15-25 deg. F that is not excessively cold, and yet the LPG is still liquifying.

Interesting LPG link:

I have had lot of experience with the impco system, depending on the model the largest percentage of impco's run on very lil pressure for the lp system running for .5 to 1.5 lbs at the test port depending on the model. you will find a test port on the vaporizer (regulator) most are labeled install a conventional vacuum gauge and get your pressure . If you like email me with the model and given pressure i can give you the exact specs an Impco can be somwhat fickle about pressure what can cause a pressure drop or increase would be the additive the propane company puts in (liguid polypropelene) they install this for the reason to keep residential tanks from rusting from the inside out only downside the residue cant be processed through a vaporizer.

Billy, I've never had a problem in the cold weather and believe they actually start easier than any others. I have 5 LPG tractors with both the Ensign and Century convertors. Four of the machines have chokes and the M-M m670 does not.
Four of them I start on vapor using the choke fully out. When they begin to run rough I push the choke in and warm up on vapor. I haven't had trouble running it on vapor when its cold out.
If your thermostat is working properly, the convertor shouldn't be affected by the air flow of the fan.
The Minneapolis Moline m670 doesn't have a choke but has a small diaghram button of the outside of the convertor which allows extra fuel to the carb for starting in cold weather. If the Ford doesn't have a choke, look for this button on the convertor.
