4000 hydrolic problem

My 4000 lift works great untill you use it for about 1 hour then it dosn't want to lift. It gets slow and it only will work at high RPMS. It allways works well befor it gets hot. Fluid I am using is Hyd/transmission meets Ford spec of 1234D.Any Idears?

Do the hyd filtrs ever stop up I never see anyone say change the internal filter?

the pump is probably about wore out. Thats about the only thing that it could be since it works well cold. Get a pressure gauge and put it in the high pressure line some where and see what it reads. They only cost about $20 and its nice to know what the pressure is any how

Seems reasonable. Oil is right. I think I mounted my gauge (5000psig from NAPA for less than $20) in the bleed hole on top of the pump. Check pump pressure cold at a given rpm and again hot. 2000# is a min at pto rpm. 2500 would be right. Above that the press relief valve will kick out.

If you have some after marked hydraulics added, like for a loader, or remotes for implements, the valve body (for that) may have a 2000# cut out in it so be aware.
