Help! I am looking for a tractor for my father-in-law and his brothers. They had a Ford Ferguson when they were kids and have fond memories of that tractor. I would like to buy one for them, but I cannot figure out what Ford it was. They claim that the tractor said "Ford Ferguson" on the side of the tractor or the grill. They also think that it was bought new around 1947-1948. Are there any Ford tractors that had the words "Ford Ferguson" on the side or grill?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Andy

well, there was a deal between harry ford and henry ferguson that eventually went sour....the 9N and 2N fords i believe both had that 'logo' on the grill. In 1948 the 8N came out, and it didn't have those words on the grill. 1947 was the last year for the 2N. I would try to confirm it was aford though, and not one of the early fergusons, just in case. (Simplest way to know, front grill in ford has vertical bars, Ferguson was horizontal)

From what I have read, Mr. Ferguson and Mr. Ford had a hand-shake agreement for Mr. Ferguson to provide hydraulic lifts for Mr. Ford"s N tractors. So on the front of the N"s below the Ford emblem or lettering was the word Ferguson. When the 8N"s made their debut, they did so with a Ford developed lift system, not a Ferguson system. I know I don"t have all the details right but I have seen pictures of N grills with the Ferguson lettering beneath the FORD lettering. Hope this helps. If anyone else reads this and sees an error in my post, please feel free to correct it.

Phillip
