I finished the lift cover rebuild and addition of pressure manifold today. It works wonderful - at idle picks up 5X5 round bale with ease and holds with motor off. Before the rebuild it would struggle to pick up (had to rev the engine) and would drop an implement pretty quick with engine off.
Thanks to Robil, Rvw and all of the gang for their help - I would never have even attempted this without the support of this forum - I do not know how much NH would have charged but I only spent about $20 for my gasket set. I replaced both rings on piston - adjusted everything, new o-rings etc. I almost screwed up when I cleaned the pump pressure relief valve (I added a .010 washer)- I put it in backwards yesterday evening but reviewed everything this AM and pulled it and fixed before adding any oil. When first cranked the tractor - the lift would not move at all....reved it nothing....then it just started working and everything is very COOL!!!

Thanks again - now to adding the loader!!!

I've got a 960 we can work on, if you are good & warmed up for the job. :) I'll have to review your posts, mine will need the cam follower done (got it already) as well as the stuff you did.

(Oh, I'm in Minnesota with no heated sheds, it is about minus 1 right now, so that warmed up thing is a bit of a joke....)

It's always great when something works out. Now, if you ever get to Georgia I'd like you to take a hard look at the lift cover on my 8N!

The plate under the seat where much of the hydraulics system is located, much piping & O rings & hyd handles on & in it.
