Just finished rebuilding lift cover...

I have been working the 3000 hard all day for the last 2-3 days (8 hours a day) using a very heavy blade made out of old grader. Yesterday I noticed a sharp knocking in the hydraulic piston area. The lift still works fine (now drop or jump) but sounds like it must be having to pump hard to keep up pressure. What did I do?? Or not do? when doing the job??

I'm not sure but it sounds like the piston is not disengaging the control valve when it comes all the way out, this would allow the pump to keep forcing oil into the cylinder making either your safety valve or your relief valve pop off, which would probably be your knocking sound. I would prbably pull the top off and do an air test on it to see exactly what is going on.
