Hi Guys, I have been looking for a Ford to do chores with so that I can restore the 681 that Dad bought new. Just bought a real nice 4000SU. I know the front is lighter construction than the regular 4000 but it will be great for what I need. I have two questions: 1. I know my stabilizer bars from the 681 aren't going to work. Should I look to the NH dealer for bars or some other source? 2. What are my chances of finding a front snowplow frame for this tractor? I have a good plow and frame for the 601/801 that I would trade. THANKS for the advice, Bill

Hey Bill ,glad to see you found a tractor! I have a 3 cyl. 4000 in the utility configuration (as opposed to flat deck row crop model) I have a bracket attached to the bottom of the rear axle housinfs with a short cat. 1 pin . Bracket held in place by fender bolts. This will accomodate a sway bar . It is the same system used on 9n thru 800 series tractors. I made my brackets from havy angle iron modeled after the one on my NAA.I'm sure they can stilll be bought at Central Tractor or other aftermarket parts suppliers. Hope this helps.

Hey KJ-NY, thanks for the advice. I hope you are right because I just came from the local NH dealer and he says he can't get anything for the 4000. I assume the NY means we are neighbors of sorts; I live in Cicero, right in the middle of the state. Where are you located? Please email me as I have more questions about the 4000. Mine is also a utility; SU model.

I looked at my neighbors tractor last night and his only has 1 bar. It is different than the ones sold at TSC etc. I think you will have to go to NH to get a kit.

My neighbor adapted a snowplow from a 600 to his 4000. It works real good. He made some adaptors from heavy steel and bolted and welded them in place on the frame. I think any good welder could do this.

Good Luck
