Hey guys, which kind of fluid do you use in your PS resevoir? Why would the fluid back up thru the resevoir? Thanks!

We used to use 134 fluid in all of our tractors, a 6610 and 7610, and it worked great. We switched to Mercon III automatic trans fluid when our 6610 had a leak. This is what the mechanic who worked on the tractor told us. The only real difference that I could see was that the Mercon III was red so that we could find the PS leak a lot easier. Now we run them both on Mercon III, still works great and is cheaper too.

8N nut, I suppose you are talking Ford power steering pump. If you are, they recommend the 134 hyd fluid, way back when it was M2C41. The back up you mentioned is usually worn internal pump parts. Instead of the oil going out the preasure port, it bypasses back into the reservoir. Hope this helps...Kelly
