I just bought a real nice 1970 Ford 4000 (3 cyl). Many things different from my 681. I really need sway bars for the 3 point hitch; the NH dealer just shrugged his shoulders and said he coundn't help. Where can I get these? The rear axle setup is different from the 600/800 tractors. This NH dealer couldn't even give me a valve cover gasket. I would also like to put a snowplow on the front of the tractor and if I get really lucky I might even find a cab to keep the winter winds off of me. Any 4000 owners out there that might be able to help? Thanks, Bill

Hi Bill, Sounds like you need to find another FNH dealer that treat you as a customer. Book shows stabilizer kits available as CJPNN904A Kit, Stabilizer, Dual Cat., w/Rigid Link., and C7NNN869A Kit, Stabliizer, w/Flexible Links. I dont know what the difference is but they show for 4000 models from 1965 on.

Rigid link = lower three point arms are gitted with hitch balls solid to arms.
Flexable link = ball part of lower arm can be extended and or tilted to ease hook up then becomes rigid again.

I'd say the first thing you need to find is a different New Holland dealer. Not trying to be facetious; any dealer that can't even manage a valve cover gasket is either lazy, inconsiderate, or both.

You might want to post your location and see if anyone can recommend a different dealer in your area.

hi Bill,
Stabilizer bars are available both rigid and adjustable. Adjustable types are threaded, and function exactly like a 3-point hitch top link. The 'flexible' kit that Sam described are probably 'adjustable'. They're used to offset an implement. A pair of rigid bars for older Fords costs under $20 at Tractor Supply, and a pair of adjustable bars are about $45 (mounting brackets extra).

It's common to use only one bar instead of a pair. but to me, it doesn't seem right to place all the stress on one side. regards, George
