I've finally found an engine block for my 801. I have no way of knowing what year it is,but it has the 1/4" rod that drives the oil pump. The engine I'm replacing also has the 1/4" hex rod that drives the oil pump. Every thing looks the same except that the adapter plate is thicker on the new one. I'm using the good crank from the first engine that has the thiner plate. This is the plate that goes between the engine block and the bellhousing. Both of these engines are diesels, and I'll be using the crank and flywheel from the first one as I said, I just need to know what plate you would use and why. I checked the casting #'s on the two cranks and they're the same. When I bought the engine, I got the broken crank also for a reference, but the flywheel was already gone,so I don't know what it looked like, and the tractor wasn't there, so I couldn't tell what kind of transmisson it had. Any help will be appreciated from anyone. Thanks in advance; Barney-Ga.

Hi Barney , Actually it is not an adapter plate , it just keeps the dirt and trash out of the clutch assembly . You should be using the plate that goes to the original tractor engine and transmission combination , they are different for 4 speeds , 5 speeds , and S-O-S transmissions , and the early 600/800 is different than the 601/801 2000/4000 series of tractors . Thanks Tony Jacobs

Thanks Tony! I'll use the thinner one that is on the tractor now. Thanks again; Barney
