I found a 1974 ford 7000. When I start it the red light on the dash won't go out unless I idle up around 1200 or so. Is this the oil pressure to thr turbo?

That light is for the air filter-It should go out. There is a sender for it under the dash.

Turbo oil pressure is same as engine oil pressure. If your symptons were oil related, I'd suggest you'd have some knocking noises as well. Reckon other postings right - it's charging. Test by pulling small wire off dynamo / alt - light will go out if it's a charging warning light.

The little red light on the left? That's the charge indicator light. Sounds like you still have the original generator in place. That is fairly normal practice for that light. When it stays on, then you have a problem. HTH.

This red light is located out side of the gauge cluster to the lower right???? I have a charge light in the gauge cluster. I still think it has something to do with oil pressure.

I'm not familiar with any lights outside the cluster on thousand series tractors. I could only speculate on what it is. Mabey an add on? Could be an extra engine oil pressure light, or a hyd charge pressure sensor for the dual power/PTO circuit. those would be my best guesses. If it's a pressure light, then it is starting to sound dubious to me. Chase the wiring down and see where it goes, and what it might operate. HTH.

I found it. If that light comes on it tells U that the air filter needs to be cleaned as per the ford service manual that I borrowed from a buddy that has a 7000.... One person who responded got it right. Thanks again. This is a new tractor to me. Alot that I don't know.
