I would stay away from it. Look through the archives on the 6000. Many will agree that it was Ford's worst tractor ever/oddball. I remember onw post that said "every Ford dealer had a 6000 or 2 sitting out behind the dealership growing up in weeds". More promblems than you can shake a stick at. Especially with that SOS transmission.

I will give you that 6000's had their problems. I will carry this to my grave though,

Twenty five years ago I saw a 6000 at the county fair pulling. It was perfectly balanced, front tires just touching enough for traction. The operator was hunched low, going up and down the throttle, calling up a change on the sos. He would throttle back on the rpm to catch some traction and accelerate when the track was firm. That tractor lugged down to idle and back up. He knew what it could deliever, man to machine as one.

Always wanted to plow or chop with one after that, just to see what it would do.

There is also a reason why the "6000" was abandoned in the thousand series in the late '60's and 70's. Whats the price and are you handy with the wrench? Why is it being sold? What will you be doing with it?
