Ford 5500 fuel tank

I have a Ford 5500 without a fuel tank (none at all). This seems to be a tough part to find and I would not mind at all using a 5000 tank if it will mount up. I am aware that I would have to modify the inlet but that"s not a big problem. Does anyone know if a 5000 tank has the same dimensions or at least the same hole patterns and spacing for mounting? How is the 5000 tank different than the 3000 tank? Just capacity?

Thanks!

That is helpful but I am already aware of it. My problem is not availability of 5000 style tanks. My problem is that I don't know if these will fit my 5500. I have asked sellers but none of them are willing to take a few measurements off of their tanks which would tell me if they'll fit.

This is a strange request, but is there anyone out there with a 5000 that would be willing to measure the distance from the front mounting holes to the back ones? Top front hole to top back hole would be enough.

Yep, you're right. The 5000 tank won't fit the 5500 per CNH parts --

5000 tank - D8nn9002A

5500 tank - D1nn9002A

Close, but no cigar!

Try Alexander Tractor or Tanty Tractor.
