Didn't see what I was looking for after a search, so -

I'm researching tractors with the goal of purchasing a tractor with frontloader in the 1800-2000 lb capacity range (gives me a safety margin for the weight of what I want to move). Also I want to go as small as possible for those tight corners that always seem to pop up. I've looked at one 3000 - size was good but front spindles looked a bit light, the one 4000 I looked at seems more in the ballpark even though I wish it were a little smaller. Does anyone know the weight capacity of the front ends on these two series of tractors or where I can find it? I have a 'big' ford that has done well for me and would like to find it a little brother.

TIA for the help,
Bob

The front axle style found on the 3000 will not stand up to sustained loader use. I know, you all get along just fine with them, but it is NOT the combination to go out & buy, especialy one that has had a loader on it for 30 years. The differences in turning radius and overall width on a 4000 vs. a 3000 are almost insignificant, and the front axle and steering gear on the 4000 is far superior. The 4000 also boasts true independent PTO and wet brakes. It is a substantially better tractor than a 3000.

If I were using my loader everyday for heavy lifting I would agree but I use mine for maintaining my property and to lift machinery from time to time. The smaller size of the 3000 is better for what i do. The only problem I have had was to add 2 more bolts to the from axle.

My 3000 has a 727 loader. It is the correct loader for a 3000. It has a lifting capacity of 2000 lbs breakaway force of 2800lbs so the 3000 was designed for this size loader.

I do not know the weight capacity but if you get an industrial 3400 it has a heavy duty front end to take the extra abuse and weight.
