Can I safely plug hydraulic port of 640?

I bought a 640 with a snow plow. The snow plow is raised and lowered with tractor hydraulics with down pressure -- two hoses connect to a plate under the seat -- separate lever operates it. I want to remove the snow plow. Can I just plug the two ports and not worry about damaging the guts if the lever is activated by accident or do I have to loop a hose around from the outgoing port to the return port?

I agree with Rick.

However, aren't there any quick disconnects out behind the seat? Sure is messy to have to unscrew the hoses, and then you can't use any other hyd implements. You know what you want, but if the tractor doesn't have it, I'd sure put connectors on it & make it easy & useable! :)

Sounds to me like you ought to just pack it in a sell the darn thing. I bet you know a few people who would want you to sell it for profit.

Well, 2 adaptors (angles), 2 hoses about 2-3 feet, 4 Pioneer quick-connects (2 male, 2 female), and a mounting bracket - oh, & 2 hose plugs to keep the dust out. All you need. All comes from the shelf at any farm supply store, Quality, NAPA, TSC, etc. About $50, and a couple wrenches to screw it all together..... Guess I can't make any money if I tell you how to do it, eh? :)

You can plug the ports. If the lever is moved, the hydraulic pressure will immediately kick the lever back to neutral. There should not be any detent on that particular spool valve to hold it open.
