I have a compact tractor, a Ford 1100, 2 cyl diesel, 16 hp, 4 wd, built in 1964 (Approx.) It runs good and does what I need it to but, the steering shaft and it"s sundry components need replacing. I"ve had these parts on order through my New Holland dealer for nearly a year with no success. I"ve even told him that if he could find another tractor for sale, I"d consider buying it just to get one good tractor. Can anyone help me? Thanks.

I think you mean 1984 for an approx year. A neighbor lady has an 1100 diesel with 5 spd and two spd combo tranny. Its a neat little tractor but barely runs a 4 ft bushhog and if it gets the slightest grass seed in the radiator screen it overheats. I run it in two wheel drive to get more hp to the mower.

Its a fun little tractor that is probably good for a one or two acre garden but not much more. Good luck on the parts. If they are repairable, even if they need build up and machine down to reproduce, it may be the way to go. Parts are scarce for the japanese built Fords of that vintage.

Do you think your neighbor lady might be interested in selling it?

Not the news I was hoping for but thanks for replying. I have 4 acres and pull a Ford 938 shredder with no problems. My 1100 has a screen in front of the radiator that seems to minimize the overheating problem and believe me, the seeds and pollen here in Missouri can be atrocious at times.
