4000 Differential dilemma (Balmar)

I dis-assembled the differential today. (I didn't have enough to do rebuilding the S-O-S Haha) The rear bearing that supports the pinion gear pushed through the casting, cracking away the stop and cracking the thin web on the side with the ring gear. In reverse, the pinion pushes back and hits the housing containing the differential gears.

The question is this: I found the number C0NN 4024 D on the housing. Is this a "normal" 4000 series housing? 4100? Probably industrial.

When I put it back together, can I re-use the thin metal gaskets, or will they leak?

Other part numbers:

Brake ring gear - 50C21937D
Planet carrier - 50 8C
Sun gear - 50B2197D
Plate between diff. and planetary system - 50 2A

They just don't look like Ford numbers, or parts for some reason.

I will put up a differential link with pictures soon.

Thank you,

Dave

Hi David , Yes the CONN 4024 D is a standard Ford rear axle casting 1961-1965 tractors , both Industrial and Ag . The other numbers are all Balmar Part Numbers or Casting numbers . Thanks Tony Jacobs

I am looking at a Balmar Industrial, Model G-60, four wheel drive backhoe that is not running. I cannot find this machine listed anywhere! Do you have any information on this piece of equipment or where I can obtain info on it?

ROBERT, I hope you enabled e-mail notification of follow-up postings for the inquirey you left for information on the Balmar 4000 bifferential.

Unfortunately, I do not have the information you requested. Instead I must tell you that your request for information was attached to a string originally posted June of 2001, I happened to stumble upon it.

I woud suggest you post a "Tractor Wanted" ad on the classifides section of Yesteday's Tractor. Follow the link below.

Or if you only need parts for the tractor, post a message on the Ford Disscussion board

Thank You for the response. That string was the only one that I could find that referenced a Balmar Backhoe. Woould you happen to know who made the backhoe and when? Was it a Ford Product? Can you furnish any other infomation on this type of backhoe?
