Howdie, ford 2000, 3 cyl, gas- problem- it will crank and run then shut off, gas is getting to carb, replaced carb with new one, when it shuts down, I can take plug out of bottom of carb and no gas, I can blow into gas tank, and gas will flow from carb bowl bottom, it will then crank and run fine for about 30 mins or so, then it will do the same thing. Should gas flow all the way to the carb (even thru fuel pump) when I open shut off valve on bottom of tank? Cleaned gas tank out, shut off valve & screen clean, by-passed glass bowl filter with straight line for testing the gas filter was stopped up or not, put a new gas cap, even left it loose to make sure it was venting. Could it be a bad diaphram in fuel pump? What should I try next? Thanks

There is a screen in the original fuel pump.

Check the fuel shut-off valve for gunk not allowing gas to get buy it. If not the problem, plumb a vacuum gage to the suction side of the fuel pump. It should pull 10 to 12 inches of vacuum for it to work...

Thanks for the quick reply's, I replaced shut off valve, I will check fuel pump when it stops raining. When I blow into gas tank,-and seal it while I am blowing creating pressure in the gas tank-, with the shut off valve open, gas circulates thru the whole system. From tank to drain plug on bottom of carb. It will start and run fine for about 30 mins or so, then start dying out, I can blow in gas tank when this happens and it will settle out and run fine again for short time. What could be causing this? I have cleaned or replaced all lines and filters in system. I am stumped!!!! Thanks

Howdie, anyone have any additional help for this problem? Which side of fuel pump is the suction side? Thanks
