I have a 641 Workmaster that the hydros leak down fast. Does it have the same lift cylinder that is on the N's. I have replaced the piston on an 8N, but have not removed the top cover on a 641.

Thanks
Avery

I support post postulates.

On fixin yours:

Don't tweak any adjustments when you get the lift cover off the tractor. Disassemble, but don't change setting. Pretty straight forward.

Make sure you put the O ring toward the piston's crown and the backup washer toward the connecting rod. Backup washer has to be behind the oring so the 2000# hyd pressure doesn't blow it out.

On installing the cover back on the tractor, on the right side near the front of the housing are 2 orings about the size of a nickle. Get from your NH dealer (only) and install. The large gasket can be reused with rtv or similar compound.

Correct fluid available today is 80w-90, or just 90 wt GL-1 mineral oil. Auto shops have it in rural areas around here. Some use hyd/trans fluid, but that is only about 20 wt and as said, it leaks past a worn oring easily. Makes it nice in the winter, but when the weather warms up it's a bummer.

It is similar but there are differances, the lift piston uses an o-ring and leather washer instead of the piston rings and it is quite a bit larger, the linkage is setup differantly. All in all if you got through the n lift this is no more difficult.
