Proofmeter.....Help!!

On my "new" 641 I installed a new cable and meter. When I got it the cable was missing. A new one didn't help so I got a new meter. Doesn't work. The little split-end shaft at the end of the hyd pump spins until the shaft is attached, then it stops. From looking at the book it looks like the shaft comes out when you remove the big nut. Is the proofmeter shaft run by the slotted head of the capscrew inside? Is a broken end on the shaft my problem? I was hoping to be able to maintain a steady RPM on the spinner while spreading fertilizer on my hilly fields next week. Thanks for any help.

What Larry says is right but you may be able to re-crimp or adjust the female end at your pump. Try to adjust it down until the cable end "snaps" in to the connector but be careful doing this cause a new one probably does not exist. I found this after three cables.... Richard

The proofmeter cable is driven by a short shaft that in turn is driven by the slotted capscrew you mention. Provided your new cable and proofmeter are good, either the little shaft or the slotted cap screw or both are bad.
