Got a 2600 with a 4 speed dual range trany. Wants to lock in gear when you put it into 4th or 8th. It's easy to put in....but very difficult to get it out of gear. Anybody got any experience with this problem? How do I fix? I haven't removed the top plate to have a look see....may look this weekend. Thanks Paul

Had a similar problem on my 3000. I think this is usually caused by wear on shifter rails, detents, and the shifter itself. My shift levers had a lot of looseness in them. Long story short, I ordered a complete new top plate shifter assy. and replaced all my detent springs. All old springs but one were broken. The shifter assy. was $108.00. Hardest part was removing the old detent plungers to get to the springs. Mine seems fine now. I think the shifter came from Tisco, and would guess this is a common problem for a replacement to be offered for around 100 bucks.
