Hey guys,
I went to the New Holland dealer this morning to order a kit to repack the cylinders on the laoder on my 1700 ford. They wanted to know if I had single or dual action cylinders on the bucket. Can any of you tell me how to figure this out?

Thanks

A double acting cylinder will have 2 hoses on the cylinder a single only has one hose.

Thanks a lot. I assume that there would be one on each end, correct?

As far as haveing them at each end it will depend on the cylinder. I have seen the with 2 hoses but both hooked up on one end and then I have seen them with one hook up on each end. The ones where they hook on just one end have a pipe inside of the cylinder or one that runs down the out side of the cylinder.

As well, a single acting cylinder uses gravity to lower (shorten) the cylinder. You will not have any down pressure with a single acting cylinder.

With double acting, the oil will push both up & down on the cylinder, so you can lower the bucket & lift the front wheels up, etc.
