Does anybody know what the approximate value of a 70's model 4000 (3cyl gas) is in excellent mechanical condition and blasted and painted with good rubber? I would like to know how meticulous I can get with the rest of my restoration without going way over what this baby is worth. Thanks, Bob

Visited a local shop today that sells many "working" restorations --- that is, if they find a decent older machine they'll go over it "with a fine-tooth comb", finishing with paint and good rubber.

They wanted $6K for older (than yours, I think) 3000s; I didn't see any 4000s on the lot. They look real nice, but they're not "show quality" restorations IMHO. This is in SW Missouri. (He does have some "real nice stuff" in a barn, but it's not for sale unless you're talking 2nd mortgage $$)...

Come to think of it, the 3000s there were probably 2nd generation mods after all ... R/W/B paint, so probably post-1965 (that was the year, wasn't it?)

I paied $5000 for a 72 Ford 4000 diesel last year that is in good shape. I have seen price in the local paper and they seem to vary from $3500-$7000
Hope this helps, TractorMike

Seems like they made more diesel than gas tractors when it comes to the 3000 and 4000. Does anyone know the production numbers on these?

Who knows what the traffic will bear. $6000 around here would be about right. Rubber and paint is $2k so that leaves $3995 for a raggy looking tractor that runs great. If it needed an engine overhaul, that's another $k so now you're down to $2995. They're all good prices and would sell in a heartbeat, as some wouldn't care about smoking, or rubber and paint. So My $6k number is good for yours, not having seen it.

I have a bid in on a complete restoration of a late '60's 3000D at $5250. We'll see what happens.

Seems I'm getting lazy in my senior years and am willing to let the other guy do the work. Besides, since retiring, I haven't had time for projects.....dunno how I ever had time for work!

Mark, I appreciate the reply. I figure to have about 4000 in it when I'm finished (which means I'll probably have around 5000), so that will not be too far out of line. This thing is older than I am, but I'm gonna make her look new again, and am pretty excited about it. Thanks, Bob
