Ford tractor identification

I recently purchased a Ford tractor. After stripping tractor paint, original color was all red (hood included). Tractor is diesel powered, 4 cylinder, 4-speed, with Sherman combination transmission. It also has PTO output, 3-point hydraulics. I also discovered upon repairing transmission, it has 15 spline input shaft to clutch.
Battery acid has eaten the serial numbers off the transmission case; how else can I identify this tractor?
There is also no hood medalian for identification.

For what its worth. Model and serial nos. on 600 series are stamped on the flat right below the air cleaner where starter mounts. Recently stripped and rebuilt my 641 and didn't find it anywhere else (may of missed)

A 601 Series should be "mostly" red. The grille and fenders were gray (and maybe the wheels, I forget). You can look on the right side of the engine block, there should be a number cast there. Post it here and Tony Jacobs will be able to tell you if you have the smaller (144 cu in) or bigger (172) diesel engine. Look on the top of the radiator. There should be a date stamped there. Mine says "6 55" meaning June 1955. Also, rear axle trumpets usually have a date code cast into them. Mine say G225 and G255 which translate to:
G = July (7th letter of the alphabet)
22 = 22nd of the month
5 = 1955
So my axles were cast on the 22nd and 25th of July, 1955. There are probably other date codes here and there, but those are the ones I'm familiar with. Four speed tranny means it's NOT a 651, 661, 851, or 861. Could therefore be a 621, 631, 641, 821, 831, or 841. Based on the red hood, I'd cast my vote for a 641-DS. The D means diesel and the S means Sherman. I'm told that Sherman's became factory options in the later x01 series. You could check the site below to try to match the equipment you have to the possible model numbers. Scroll way down to where the model numbers are explained. Good luck.

Bob, With that amount of info, it could be a 601 or 801 Model. albe
