Does any have any experience with a 1600 series tractor? I have a 9n that I use to mow my 6 acres with a 6ft finish mower. I need a loader to help move light loads. I know of a local 1600 for sale which includes the loader, 5ft tiller, 5ft finish mower, sickle mower, and rear blade for $5,000. The tractor is in good shape and runs good. Initially I was looking to move up to a bigger tractor, but this is alot of utility for the money. Will this tractor be big enough or reliable enough to keep around? Thanks

Bob, as Kelly stated, parts are a major consideration. I have owned two 1600s' over the years, and, thankfully did not need any major repairs. I did have to replace a steering shaft on one, $ 480 dealer only. A clutch, if you can find one is around $700. Also these models did not have power steering, kind of tough when a loader is installed. For my money, I would look for a Ford 2-3000. I own 1974 Ford 2000 , power steering, live PTO, 40 hp, and tons of parts available reasonable. I paid just under $4000 for mine Dave

Bob, in my opinion no. What I don't like about the tractor in question is this. What options do you have if you need a part. Aftermarket, no. Used, no. Only O.E. and if New Holland decides to drop that item from the line, what do you do. What I like about the U.S. built Fords from 1939/64 is all the options you have to buy a part....thanks, Kelly.
