I have a 1954 ford 640 with a loader.
I was wondering what year the loader was.
It is a ford model 19-97 with a serial number 3750.
If any one can help I"d appreciate it. Thanks

I have a 19-97 that is original on my 850 that was built in May of 1957. The serial # is 7918. Maybe that will help you date it a little closer. You can get a manual reprint from N-news for just a few dollars.

I have a Ford 703 loader on my 1962 4000 that has the same model number (19-97). I believe that this would be the loader -- I think they were manufactured from the 1950s through 1970s.

If it is a 640 it has to be 1955 or later. The 1954 was an NAA. I can't answer the loader question.

You're both right....kinda. Yes the 600/800 series were introduced as 1955 models, but the first 10,000 or so were actually manufactured in late 1954, so sometimes those with early serial numbers will say it's a 1954...same way an early 8N will be called a 1947 when the owner's manual clearly states 1948. In fact, the 8 in 8N is supposed to designate 1948, the "first" year of the 8N. Actual production of the 8N started in June or July of 1948 and more than 30,000 were built in '47.

I meant to say 8N production started in June or July of 1947, not 1948.
