My neighbor recently purchased a new Ford, which we believe is a 2000 of some sort. The tractor is all blue (supposedly its original color), gas, and has a select-o-matic type tranny.

On the left side of the engine, on a plate, are the numbers: 21205
<>60624<>

On the right side, are the cast numbers: CONN60150

Any idea what this thing might be? It came with power steering, though I don't know if that's an original feature.

bill,
Wanna get real confused? It's taken 40 years to decode, but the Vintage Ford Tractor Resource explains why there are more numbers than there are tractors. 2000 series are about 2/3 of the way down the page.

The first 2 is series = 2000

Then Utility (x1xx) and pto style (transmission type) and trannytype/gears (5 = SOS as I recall).

The other is serial number and it is low so I'd say you have an early '60's 4 cyl.

3 cylinder or 4 cylinder engine?? On 3 cylinder tractor the numbers are stamped on top of the starter boss on the clutch housing. Usually starting with a "C" then numbers behind it..Both 3 or 4 cylinder tractors used a select-o-speed transmission.
