Can anyone tell me if a diesel engine out of a 3000 ford will fit in a 900 series ford?
Thanks

I was going to put a 3cyl rear half into a 1964 Industrial in place of the torque converter clutch and transmission. When I held up the adaptor plate, I gave up pretty fast, and I like a challenge. The 3 cylinder bellhousing is quite a bit larger. I don't think any of the holes would line up. The 3 cylinder flywheel may also be larger. I think you could make an adaptor, but the starter motor location might be a big problem. I'll take another look from your point of view, however I don't have a 3 cyl flywheel to check. In the meanwhile, I have a 3 cyl bellhousing and 4 speed transmission from a 2000. It had an over-and-under auxiliary transmission, but that's gone. It could be interchangeable with the 900 rear end. Maybe you'd be interested in it. I'm located in Mn.

900 series uses the 4 cylinder engine of 172 cu in. The 3000 uses a 3 cyl engine of 175 cu in. It is much shorter if nothing else.
