I've lost my charging capability. May have arced something with my wrench while tighening a connection with the battery still in the circuit. Someone mentioned the possibility of a fuse in the chargingsystem, of course the IT manual is not much help. Is there one in the circuit and if so, where might I go to find it. Thanks to all of you for your help and willingness to help a newbie.

I think there is a fusueble link in the wire at the starter, but I am not sure. The tractor does not have a fuse or a circuit breaker in the circuit. You may have blown the output diode in the alternater. I would remove the alternater and take it to a repair shop and have it checked out.

My 4600 has a fuse panel on the lower sheet metal, on the right side, below the throttle hand lever. It has a plastic cover over it for protection. About 3 x 4 inches. Can't miss it.

The fuses (in mine) are european and if I blow one I will have to figure out something.

Anyway, disconnect the battery and get an ohmmeter and go down the string of them.

Your alternator needs an input voltage to power it and the regulator. (Don't remember if the VR is internal or not but it doesn't matter for this.). So yes you will have a protective device in the circuit.
