DOES ANY ONE KNOW WHAT THE PRESSURE SWITCH FOR THE OIL LIGHT IS SET TO? AFTER AN HOUR OF HARD RUNNING SNOWBLOWING OR BRUSH HOGGING AT IDLE 700 RPM THE LIGHT FLICKERS OR SOMETIMES IS JUST ON. I HAVE 65 PSI AT 1000 RPM AS RECOMENDED BY THE MANUAL WITH THE ENGINE. BUT I HAVE NOT HAD THE GAUGE ON WHEN THE LIGHT FLICKERS. BUT AS I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE WHEN THE PRESSURE DROPS TO 35-40 PSI THE LIGHT COMES ON. THIS SEEMS LIKE PLENTY OF PRESSURE BUT I AM NOT SURE. THANKS

An oil pressure sending unit only cost 4 bucks at the local NH dealer. Mine did the same thing and I changed the oil and filter, no difference. I loosened the sending unit and cranked it over and oil pumped out, so I knew I had pressure. I bought a new sending unit and the light works right now.

They are set rediculously low, like in the teens. Bad news, but Ford did it for years and built thousands of tractors this way and I have 3 of them (like 30 years old) with idiot lights an only one has been overhauled and that was because of owner abuse (no air filter), not Fords low oil pressure sensor.

How about plumbint a T into the block and running a mechanical gauge and the sender for piece of mind.

However.. like the other poster said.. 30+ psi at shutdown looks like clear sailing to me.

In any case.. replace the sender!

35-40 PSI is more than plenty. Replace your sending unit.
