As my orginal mecancial tachometer on on wheel loader with a ford 5000 diesel engine as stop working, I figured an electrical would be great.

My ford 5000 has the tacho on the diesel pump. I think I could get a pulse generator to fit in the wire connection on the pump. Just need to know if the wire tacho has been geared down in the diesel pump and the angeled drive behind the pump, or if the wire spins as fast as the pump. Anyone done some work on this?

The pulse generator can then drive a regular tachometer for a gas engine. This will give me a benefit, as the I can make another scale plate for the tacho that when it normally would read say 4000rpm, will be 2000rpm on my new scale plate. Becuase I can change the # of pulse on the tacho and the pulse generator to achive it.

What do you think?
