Tony ya out there? I have a 1964 4000. Started brush hoging this afternoon and before long the three point raized all the way up on it's own and wouldn't come back down no matter what I tried. Have the cover under the seat with the lift cylinder removed already and I don't see anything obvious. Since it appears the hydrolic pressure feeds through the remote valve on the top cover is it possibably suspect? Any body else ever experance this problem?

Must be you guys were all stumped too. Tore everything apart and found nothing obvious. No linkages were disconected. Everything seemed in order. Tore into the control valve and cleaned it all up and adj. the linkages as long as it was in my hands. Put her all back together and she works fine again? Got to figure the spool valve shifted some how or a port was pluged with some comtamination or the moon was full? Never seen this problem posted before so I hoped to share something for a change oh well. Later..... ..

Could be the unload valve stuck. this can cause the lift to raise and not lower depending on what position it stuck in. The o-ring on the valve spool gets hard and cracked with age and can make it stick. If this was the case then the pump would have had to open the relief in the tractor. You should have been able to notice a slugging of the engine especially at idle. If you do get to putting a new o-ring in be careful not to cut it on the small notch in its bore sleeve.

Thanks for the come-back. I'll keep it mind if I'm
back in there. Did have a high pitch squeal at the time on the malfunction coming from the hydrolics at low RPM only. Thanks, AB
