My tractor is a regular 4 cyl gas,4 speed with PTO and 3 point hydraulic lift.Same as a 601.The air cleaner is like the diesel style and the exhaust is vertical. Both are a nuisance, and in the way of low limbs for no good reason I can think of.Anyone know of this option and it's purpose?Everything appears to be factory installed. Thanks,Boley

The air filter is about the same height (on mine) as the top of the steering wheel so I don't see much improvement there.

On the exhaust, if the muffler is folded back forward right over the exhaust manifold, your quickest solution would be to load the tractor onto a trailer and take it to a muffler shop. Have them make you an exhaust pipe that goes forward and down between the front axle and alternator pulley and back under the left floor board. If the muffler is not as stated, you can do the same thing but add it to the pipe under the tractor somewhere convenient. Mine was a beautiful job, took him about 15 minutes and was $40.

Mine is the same has yours, I don't like it either. You can just move the thing and smell like exhaust fumes.

My 1963 Ford 2000 has horizontal exhaust left side going forward and turns down...Muffler has been removed there is just a straight pipe going down. There is no indication a vertical exhaust was ever used. The air intake is on the left side with no vertical pipe. Not sure why yours is vertical.

My 1963 Ford 2000 gasser has the exhaust going down under the tractor and exiting at the rear below the differential. Look for pictures of the 63 2000 gasser.
