Could someone explain the adapter plate and where to get one, that goes on the top of the lift cover to gain remote hydro. and what the power beyond would be used for. I want to mount front snow plow but need juice for the lift cylinders. I do not want to spend 600 dollars on the kit with the valves per plumbed I just want to use a inexspensive log splitter type valve.

thanks Alex

I think you'll find that cost is pretty much a crap shoot one way or the other. By the time you buy the adapter plate, then hoses, the valves and the couplers, and then design a mounting bracket for the valves, and fab that up, you'll be in as much money as if you bought the open center valve block from NewHolland. Also, if you're careful in what you buy from NH, you'll get the detented valves that return to neutral automatically when the cylinder strokes out. That's a nice feature to have, that doesn't generally come on a standard off the shelf valve, unless you order it specifically. If you do decide to go with the adapter plate assembly, then any good NH parts man should be able to look up the number and order it for you. Salvage is also an option for both the adapter, or the valves themselves. I think anything from about 55 or 56 should fit. HTH.

I agree, having done that on 2 tractors. The thing I like about the after market is that you can locate it where you want.....don't have to put up with it in the very inconvenient position OEM uses. And the price is probably more like $450. NH dealer has adapter plate...$75 is what mine cost.
