billybunter, I spent more hours in the seat of one of those than I can count! It was our primary tillage tractor for about 12-15 years before my dad retired from farming (and I moved on to other profession). Overall, I'd say it was a good machine; did what we asked, when we asked, and did it well. The only problems I can remember were: Cab is a little cramped (as were most at this time); AC never lasted more than a couple months before dying, despite being dealer fixed maybe 3 times before my dad gave up on it; shifting was a little stiff/tricky - easier to grind 'em than find 'em; front tie rod end(s) had to be replaced a couple of ties; and had a fuel injector issue that put it in the dealer's shop for a couple days. This, in hindsight, was a big mistake from the dealer's point. He brought over a "loaner" TW20 w/mfwd for us to use (and try to sell my dad), and when the ole 9600 came back, it ran circles around that new TW. The dealer even brought out another TW20, and the 9600 ripped it up too! They tweaked the fuel pump on the second TW and it still didn't handle, even with mfwd, either the 5-16" plow, nor the 20' disc the way the 9600 could. Needless to say, my dad didn't "upgrade".
