I have 850 Ford Tractor...starts great and runs great....until about 45 minutes into the job. Its got fresh plugs and gas. What is causing it to pop and clogg up it seems like. The radiator is full and it never steams over...any suggestions anyone? I appreciate your time..

Has it been converted to 12 volts?

If so, does it have a 12 volt coil or a series voltage dropping resistor in the primary circuit?

When it starts doing that have you checked to make sure you are getting a good flow of gas from the carb drain plug?? If so then its probably an ignition problem. Most likely its the coil going bad, takes about 1 hour to get the coil hot and then it starts to act up on you.

Once it shut down I felt the coil..it was tooo hot to touch..is it supposed to be this warm? If I wait around 15-25 Minutes it starts back up and runs fine until it another 30-45 minutes...do you think this is the coil? It was converted to 12 volts years ago....I have run it all day before with no problem...thanks for your help...Paul

A coil should be warm but not so hot you can't touch it. I'd say you need a new coil, get a true 12 volt coil that dosn't need and external resistor and you will be better off.

I posted above before reading this response.

I suspect that you have found your problem. When converting to 12 volts did you add a voltage dropping resistor in series with the ignition primary circuit?
