This may be a little hard to explain so please bear with me. My (new to me) 71 Ford 3000 has an after-market FEL, the hydraulics pipe into a big aluminum block just in front of the seat. Looks like some after-market adaptor to tap into the tractors hydraulic system. One hose straight out the right side and one hose into the front with a 90.

It also has a small lever under the seat that the manual says is the "Hydraulic Selector" that is suppose to switch between Position and Draft control.

The big problem is the hose that exits the adaptor is in the way of not only the Position control but also makes it real hard to get to the differential lock lever with my right foot.

Questions are,

What position is the Hydraulic Selector lever in for "Position" control, mine is almost straight up and if I try to move it forward it hits the hose. Seems to be spring loaded in the up position. If the hose wasn't in the way would it lock in the down position?

When I have my Landscape Rake on the back sometimes the 3 point lift seems to have a mind of it's own. If the rake encounters a tough pull it will lift all by itself. Doesn't seem to happen with the box blade. Is this normal in Position control or could my 3 point somehow be in Draft?

Finally, is there a better way to do the Hydraulics for the FEL with out investing in Fort Knox? I have looked at the plumbing and think I can route the hoses out of the way of the differential lock with a few custom fittings and new hoses but the position Control lever would still hit the fitting.

Any insight would be appreciated..

Thanks

Bob,I thought I was with you for a moment. Then I reread and you said "A large alum block in front of the seat. We use a neat block from Tisco that directs the two hoses forward. You can make it as neat or as cobled as you like. The draft leaver should be up for most uses.

Thanks, the Tisco block sounds more user friendly that what is on the tractor, will try Google.
