I have a 1972 3000 gasoline powered 3 cyl. and am trying to wire up the coil. Does anyone know what a thermostart is? My wiring diagram for tractors with "C" prefix does not show one. Looks like to me 12 volts goes from
starter switch directly to (+) post on coil then (-) post to distributor.....sound right?

I'm not right up on the wiring on the gas jobs, but it sounds right to me....
Thermostart was the built in cold starting aid on diesel powered Ford tractors. Since yours is gas, you don't need to worry about it. You don't have thermostart. If you have the 5 position ignition switch, you'll just have an extra terminal that you don't use. HTH.
