A little background, I plan on mowing a 6 acre field and rotortilling a 1 acre field, I was wondering if a 1964 FORD 6000 FARM TRACTOR 4 cyl gas eng, frt bucket, has down pressure on bucket, runs gd. $3300, would soot my needs. Is this tractor over priced. I'll also be pulling trees out of the wood for cutting (personel wood).

WHat are the + and - associated with this tractor, or should I be looking at a different tractor...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My budget is $2,000.00 - $3,000.00 for the tractor
only, not including implements..

6000 is a really big tractor, 600 is a really handy tractor. $3300 for 600 w/ loader is not a bad price if everything is pretty good. It's a great price for a 6000 if everything is good. If the tranny is bad or goes bad $3300 for a fix would be a good price.

Steve,

Better check out the following site:
Link

Read the "History..." section and what it says about those models of 6000.

I've never owned one, but I don't hear good things.

We had two 6000 a 62 and 67 both where diesel(6cyl).Seems like a 4cyl gas is"nt right.Sure its not a 600.The 6000 gave us good service but a few points to look for is hydraulic leaks. The system has a nitro-pressure tank and 3000psi even with engine off it will pick up a 3point 4bottom plow 4times you should always kill pressure when done. Make sure it shifts good (slecto-speed)and rear is not noisie at road speed. Dave
