Hello All,

I am new to the tractor business. Just purchased a Ford 3000 from someone but they did not have the tractor owners manual. He also did not know the serieal number or year of the tractor. I was wondering how would I know which owners manual to get. Also, I was wondering what HP this tractor is?

Thanks,

Will

If it looks like this one it is a 70's model. On English models the headlights are in the grill. The ones built here had the headlights sticking out of the side of the hood. The photo is not my 3000.

There should be a serial number decal under the hood. You can see it when you open the hood. There is also a serial number stamped, I think above the starter on a flat. In any case it's on a flat in that area. However, it's usually been eaten away by battery acid.

The 3000 diesel is an excellent medium duty tractor.

A FORD 3000 WAS MADE FROM 1965-74. IT IS A 39 H.P. TRACTOR. YOU CAN GET A MANUEL BY CALLING 1-800-635-4913.

No, they were also made in 1975. If you own a 1975 model like I do you discover that the serial number has the year code for 1965 but the tractor is all 70's with parts numbers matching those of the 70's. So, when you think about it it becomes obvious that there was no reason to add a code for 75 when there was already a code for units produced in a year ending in 5. 1965 - 5
1966 - 6
1967 - 7
1968 - 8
1969 - 9
1970 - 0
1971 - 1
1972 - 2
1973 - 3
1974 - 4

so people assume production ended in 74 when in fact it ended in 1975.

Sorry, but I haven't pulled a disc yet with mine. I have one that came with it that has two rows of discs about six feet wide. My disc was also made by ford.
