I recently installed a new single wire 12v alternator kit. Every thing works fine except it takes a couple minutes for the alternator to start working. One exception was when I accidentally started the tractor at full throttle the amp gauge went to 30 amps immediately. Normally I have to let it run for about 2 Min. at –2 amps before it goes to +10 amps and gradually comes down to 0. Is this normal with this type of set up? I thought possibly the pulley was to big (Alt. To slow)

Thanks for your help

Walt

From the alternator gurus this is how they work unless you put a smaller pulley on it to speed up the alt rotation. I just converted my tractor and if you give it one goose to half trottle it should start charging and stay charging.
