We have a '65 4000HD Industrial Backhoe, 4cyl diesel, no 3pt., no pto, I believe it is a single stage clutch. It appears that the clutch is gone. My brother found some clutch matrial, don't know exactly where he pulled it from, but he had a couple of pieces in his hand. The tractor can move on its own on level ground. We did a complete engine rebuild & new clutch, probably 12-15 yrs ago. Are their any tricks or neat ideas on doing this job.

I think the way we will takle it is, pull it under a tree, pick the front loader up, chain it to the tree with 4x4 under the arms for extra safety, then pull the engine & steering unit forward.

Ideas ???

Thanks

If you can unbolt the front crossmember of the loader in front of the grille (or if it doesn't have one), you are on the right track.
