Here's a picture of my newly restored Ford 4000 SOS. I just wanted everyone to see how this discussion board has helped me restore this beauty. I've owned this tractor for 30 years, it is now retired from work.

That's a great looking tractor! I have one just like it that I am working on now. Hopefully, mine will look more like yours someday.

That is a real nice job! What all did you do on the restore and how long (work hours) did it take?

I owned this tractor with another guy and he had it for ten years while I drove my 5 sp. 901 which is in great shape to. When he retired I got it back and it was a basket case. I have pictures of it but I'll have to find out how to get it get them on the computor. I was laughed at when I said I was going to restore it. The p/s was wired to the frame, headlights falling off, and was brown with oil caked on it instead of blue. Luckly the engine was not to bad but I still had it overhauled. I had Carl Davis do the work and he also adjusted, changed the oil and filter in the sos. The hardest piece to find was the hood emblem. I finally found one and had it chromed. I didn't keep track of the hours or dollars because I only had one purpose and that was to bring it back to new condition because it meant a lot to me. Most of the work was done during the summer mos. of 3 yrs. I never intended to try to make money on it. I knew I would loose from the start. For those who say the sos won't hold up here's proof that after taking a beating it's still going strong. Carl said it was in great shape. Hope this answers your question.

As you guys see I'm not good with computors. Don't know what happened or how you found the picture. I did put it in the tractor photos. All you guys have been a great help to me on this 3 year project. I'm hoping to have it in a lot of shows. PTL Kent

Hi Kent! For future reference, here's how I found your picture and posted it.

First I placed my cursor on the drx (dreaded red x) and did a right click. That brought up a menu. I clicked on "Properties" which gave me a screen showing what URL you had tried to use to post the photo.

The next thing I attempted was to copy that URL to my browser window to see if it would take me to your picture. It did not. However I could tell from the URL that you had tried to link from the tractor gallery on this site.

So then I went to the gallery and looked for a recent photo of a Ford 4000. Yours was the first or second on the list. When I saw the caption saying you had owned it for 30 years, etc, I figured I had the right photo.

Now here's where I got the correct URL to post the picture:

With your photo on the screen I placed my cursor in the middle of the photograph and right clicked again. Then I clicked on "properties" and that gave me the actual URL for the photo itself. I copied that to the Optional Image URL box on my reply to your post and presto!...a beautifully restored 4000 appeared on my screen when I posted my reply.

When you're trying to link a photo from the gallery, be sure the URL you are using ends with ".jpg". If it doesn't, you don't have a URL that will work in the "Optional Image URL" box on your post.
