I ran my tractor out of diesel. Now it won't start. I think it is vapor locked. I filled the tank with diesel, but I can't find where to prime the pump. Can anyone help this city boy figure out his tractor? Thanks!

On top of the injection pump there is a vertical bolt going down through a horizontal fuel line, loosen the bolt and turn the key to the first position and it should bleed by gravity if there is enough fuel in, after no air bubbles come out tighten the screw and crank the engine at full throttle until starts.

As I recall, the fuel filter should be located on the right hand side, just forward of the fuel tank. There should be a bleed screw on top of the filter base, and another where the fuel line from the filter attaches to the injection pump. Bleed all air from these bleeders, in order from the tank towards the pump. It"s gravity fed so just crack the bleeder and let the fuel run.

After all air is out of the supply side, slightly loosen all injector lines at the injectors. Crank the engine over until all injector lines are spurting fuel with no air bubbles. Tighten all injector lines and should be good to go.

If you ran it out of fuel you have air in the fuel lines that needs to be bled. I'm not familiar with the 1920 but on a 3000 you begin at the fuel filter, there should be a screw to allow air out, then go the fuel pump, same deal but I think the engine has to be spinning, and finally the injectors. You open each one in turn with the engine spiining. When you don't see air bubbles anymore you should be motoring. I'm sure someone on here will give you the exact procedure for the 1920. After running out of fuel once on a diesel tractor I made sure it never happened again.

Ya, I changed the fuel filter and didn't bleed the injector pump. It started and ran just long enough to drain all the fuel out of the injector lines. Not only had to bleed the pump but had to bleed the injectors. At least it gave me the expierence to know what to do if I ever run it out of fuel.
