Recently purchased, discovered the fuel shutoff is leaking. How difficult to replace this, do I have to remove gas tank?? Thanks for any help!

I believe you can buy just the O ring for the valve and not pay the price for a complete fuel shutoff valve. Don (MI)

Leaky fuel valve is a common problem. Replacement can be tricky, but it's do-able. You may want to remove the engine valve cover to gain more space, but if you hold your mouth just right it can be done without removing the valve cover. If you decide to remove the valve cover, you might want to get a new valve cover gasket ready for reinstallation.

New valves cost about $40, but Kelly Jewell once reported finding a source for the valves for less than $25. You could do an archive search and maybe find his email address. He still checks in here from time to time.
