That's not the serial number. Look directly behind the starter.

I'm no expert by any means, but I believe that number is the part number or casting number for the transmission. The serial number should be on a horizontal flat surface on top of the transmission housing by the starter on the right side of the tractor. You may have to scrape paint to see it. That's where it is on my 4000, and I believe it is the same on the 5000 - somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

My books are all at home. if no one answers by then I'll post when i get off work tonight at 11pm est.

I just recently got a 5000.. I think they are great tractors. Would love to see pics of your unit.

Is it a gas or diesel? Narrow or wide front? Flat top or clamshell fenders.
