Your serial number tells me it's a 1955. You can verify that by clicking here. The 1955 600 and 800 series had a couple of characteristics that were unique and make them a little different than the 1956 and 1957 versions. Running boards: 1955 sported the flat running boards although many owners hated them and replaced them with angled ones. Fenders: the '55 fenders were supported by a piece of flatstock that looped around the perimeter of the inside (tire side) of the fender. This was the same support system used on 8N and NAA fenders, but the 600/800 fender skins were larger. I suspect the Ford engineers decided this system was not adequate for the larger fenders because the '56 and '57 fenders have a heavier support system consisting of three braces that branch up from the mounting base. Hydraulic pump: the '55 tractors were equipped with the Vickers vane hydraulic pump until s/n 66849. After that s/n all tractors received the piston pump. Many of the old vane pumps wore out and were subsequently replaced with piston pumps. To tell the difference, just look at it. The vane pump has a square body with rounded corners. The piston pump is round like a starter motor. It's mounted on the left side of the engine toward the back. The proofmeter cable is attached to the rear end of the hydraulic pump. From your s/n I would guess your tractor was built in May or June of '55. You can verify this by finding date codes on various parts of the tractor. If you're interested, post back and we can go through the date code discussion. Original carburetors and sheetmetal come up on ebay from time to time. I remember seeing someone selling reproduction hoods, but I don't remember who it was. John Bower (the old tractor guy) is parting out a Jubilee. I believe the hoods are interchangeable with a 600 series, but maybe someone else could confirm that.
