I own a Ford 6600 tractor that I would like to fit with a dual power. It'll be very helpful if somebody gives me an idea of what parts I need to get, and how much would it cost to do this project? Thank you very much for reading this message.

Im new to dual power but learning quite a bit rebuilding a 9600 basket case. I priced a salvage dual power unit at 1200 from cook tractor, Clinton MO. Though I havnt been around too many fords (just this 9600 and my 8730) Im guessing your clutch housing isnt big enough for the dual power unit. I could be all wrong but wouldnt think they would use the same casting for a non dp tractor. Lots of empty space between the clutch and tranny if they did.

They do use the same clutch bell housing.

I pulled mine out of a 7710, I think it took a new input shaft and cone, and an oil line. Shouldnt be a lot worse to put one in. Alexanders out of Texas was my source. I do have my old unit if you are interested my emails unmasked.

Find a donor tractor in a wrecking yard and use the parts from it. Trust me, you don't want to buy the pieces individually (new or used) and piece it together that way.

I own an 861 so I don't have dual power but I see it mentioned quite a bit when talking about thousand series tractors. What is it and what does it do?

The Dual Power is a two speed powershift unit that mounts at the front of an 8 speed transmission giving you direct drive and an underdrive speed for every gear. The direct drive is a straight thru clutch pack. The underdrive clutch engages a planetary gear reducer.
The main point is it gives you more groundspeed options and can be shifted on the go without using the manual clutch pedal.
I'm not sure if you would need an entire transmssion or not. The DP unit requires changing the trans input shaft. I'm thinking that you don't, you just need to have a tractor with a new enough model tractor to have a pump with the DP supply port in it and add the radiator with the cooler in it. I could be wrong though.

Dual Power came out (I think) about '69 or '70, as an option with the 8-speed trans. To add it to a tractor that wasn't factory-equipped with it, you'd need the whole transmission plus the oil cooler and lines. It could be bolted into any 4 or 6 cylinder Ford, '65 or newer, except the 6000. It won't fit the '62-'64 thousand series. With enough work, it might fit a 3-cylinder model. It works as a hydraulicly-shifted under-drive/ direct drive, much like a TA on a Farmall. (except Dual Powers hardly ever go out.)
