The rims on my 640 are shot (calcium cloride) and the tires are pretty worn. Tucker tire ebay ads seem to show everything from 11.2 to 14.9 width tires fitting the tractor. At my age, new tires should outlast me. What width do you recommend? Main use will be mowing and grading.

I have a Jubilee with 12.4's on it - good match for h.p. and weight. Used to have a 640 with 14.9's - made it quite a bit faster, and had less lugging power- often had to downshift where the Jubilee wouldn't need to. I'd say go with 12.4 or maybe 13.6.

I run 13.6X28 on my 841 which I like a lot. They are wide enough not to sink in on wet ground and also good for traction.

Tractor tire sizes have changed. What used to be called 11-28 is the same as the current 12.4-28.

Old: 10-28 = New: 11.2-28
Old: 11-28 = New: 12.4-28
Old: 12-28 = New: 13.6-28
Old: 13-28 = New: 14.9-28

If your tires say "11 - 28" on the sidewall, they are probably pretty old tires.

I have 13.9 - 28 on my 850. I think that or 12.4 - 28 would be best for your 640. I got mine from Tucker also. It's been 2 years and no problems. Of course there shouldn't be any problems after only 2 years. My tires are made in Turkey. Mitas brand.

Tucker prices theirs with freight included as long as you're east of the Rockies. In my case they also included the freight because they had some 13.6 tires they were closing out and wanted to make deals. The quoted price for tires, tubes mounted on new rims delivered to my door was cheaper than I could find locally.

If I had known about Nebraska Tire I certainly would have given them an opportunity to give me a quote also. Do they have a website? Or an 800 number?
